Heartland Funeral Home opened in 1993 to offer the citizens of Brown County a choice. Careful consideration was given to make the funeral home a very warm and inviting facility where families would feel “at home” and comfortable.
It was also important that the families felt as though they had a choice in the services they chose and regardless of the type of service they chose would receive the same dedicated and professional care of their loved one. Many new and alternative types of services were introduced to offer the families a wide range of choices and prices.
The funeral home was sold in 1998 to Equity Corporation International of Lufkin which later merged with Service Corporation International of Houston. Current management contracted to continue with the funeral home with local control being very important. As the corporate world changed and focused on financial gains, local management chose to leave as they did not feel the original goals of the funeral home were being met.
It is with delight that Benny M. Allcorn, one of the original owners, and Ronny & Clarine Kellam, a former manager, announce the purchase of the funeral home with a commitment to returning the operation of the funeral home back to its original mission, that of serving the families with a variety of choices and prices to meet every families individual need. The funeral home has returned to a locally family owned and operated business. The advantage is lower prices, decisions that are made locally, and a commitment to community support.
