James Clyde Lester Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Clyde Lester, born 10/20/1937 passed away on Tuesday 03/22/2022 at his home in Gustine. He was a lifelong resident of Comanche county. He started school in Pettit and went there until it closed at which time he moved to Comanche High School and graduated there in 1955. He married Sherri Sue Seago on January 7th, 1956. He was preceded in death by; His wife of 63 years, Sherri Sue Lester, His father, Jimmy C. Lester, and his mother, Flossie Mae Cotney Lester, his sister, Helen Lester Gamblin, his son-in-law, Mark Gunter. He is survived by his children; Sherri Gunter in Hamilton, Debbie and Kelley Adcock in Gustine, Terri and Ben Schmalzried in Granbury Jim and Daviddie Lester and Joe and Elisa Lester both in Gustine. He had 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was a member of Pettit Baptist Church, a lifelong farmer which included peanut farming in earlier years, cattle ranching, and several years of dairy farming. He enjoyed being outdoors, the company of good friends, and good food. He retired from TxDot in Comanche. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pettit Baptist Church, or either of the Gustine or Energy Volunteer Fire Departments. An announcement will be made at a later date for memorial service/gathering.
