Lola Hicks

June 30, 1933 - March 2, 2022

Lola Francene (McGuire) Hicks 88, of Brownwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. A graveside service will be held at the Cross Plains Cemetery, Monday, March 7, 2022, at 10:00 AM under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. Lola was born June 30, 1933 in Bell County to James and Opal McGuire. She attended school in Early and Peacock School in Rotan. Lola married Vernon Hicks in Odessa on July 20, 1950, a marriage that brought over 71 years of happiness and three sons. Lola worked the hardest as a homemaker for her family and she also worked at Underwood's in Brownwood for 16 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for many years. Her family was the light of her life and being a great wife, mom, grandma and great grandmother were her greatest achievements. Lola loved to crochet afghans, booties and baby blankets. She loved to be in the kitchen and blessed all with her wonderful culinary skills. Her baked cakes were always a gift at any function. Lola will always be remembered by the love she put into everything she did, you could taste it in her cooking, feel the warmth of love in her home, and see her love in the legacy she left with her family. Lola is survived by her beloved husband, Vernon Hicks Sr. of Brownwood; sons, Vernon Hicks Jr. and wife Tatiana of Plano, Roger D Hicks of Early, and Paul Hicks of Brownwood; sisters, Eulene Hughes, Joe Segura, Margaret McGuire, Patricia McGuire all of Brownwood; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Lola was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jimmy McGuire; sisters, Odessa, Sybil & Laura.
