Susan J Westmoreland
January 12, 1944 - March 5, 2022
Susan (Lindsey) Westmoreland, age 78, passed away on Saturday March 5, 2022, in Hamilton, TX. She was born on January 12, 1944, in Lamesa, TX, to MC Lindsey and Bonell Coulter. Susan spent her early years on a cotton farm in Welch, TX. She attended elementary school in Welch, TX and Jr. High and High School in Lamesa, TX. On November 16, 1962, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Gene Westmoreland, in Lamesa, TX. They were married for 52 years before he passed away in February 2015. Gene attended Texas A&M University 1962-66 and Susan was there for him as a loving and supporting wife. Gene and Susan moved to Comanche, TX, in 1969. In 1980, Susan was hired by Comanche ISD as a teacher's aide for the next 20 years. She was loved by the students she helped and her co-workers. Susan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Susan's greatest accomplishments were her love and devotion for her family. Her love for Gene was obvious and unconditional, and when it came to her 3 daughters and 5 grandkids, that was when her true passion came out. Whether it was cheering them on at all their sporting events, cooking late night suppers, or just "holding down the fort" as she would often say, Susan loved her family above all else. We often told her she was the best Mom and Gran in the world! She will truly be missed! We love you! Susan is survived by her three daughters; Jill (Westmoreland) Kimmel and husband Dan of Tuscola, TX, Robbin Westmoreland of Albany, TX, Amanda (Westmoreland) Carlisle and husband Scott of Tuscola, TX, her five grandchildren, Katelin (Kimmel) Peacock and husband Logan of Tuscola, TX, Kade Kimmel, student at McMurray University, Abilene, TX, Jillian Guinn, student at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX, Cline and Colt Carlisle, Jim Ned 7th graders, Tuscola, TX; brother, Lee Lindsey and wife Nell of Ft. Worth, TX; sister-in-law, Sarah Westmoreland-Mason of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to Jill Kimmel (for Coach Westmoreland Athletic Fund), 205 CR 676, Tuscola, TX 79562.
