Weldon Wilson

March 2, 1944 - February 15, 2022

Weldon Van Wilson, Sr., and his twin sister, Wilma, were born to Lige and Lottie Wilson on March 2, 1944, in Brownwood, Texas. He attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, where he was named an all-American football player. While there, he earned his bachelor's degree in agricultural education. He later earned his master's degree at Texas A&M University in College Station. December 28, 1966, he married Kay Griffin, his high school sweetheart. They had two sons, Van and Steven, both born in College Station. In 1970, Weldon was the Agriculture Department Head at Ranger Junior College. He moved his family to Brownwood, in 1979, and started an electrical contracting business, Weldon Wilson Electric, Inc. He loved ranching, farming and hunting; but his favorite pastime was sharing time with his sons and grandsons, third generation Aggies. Weldon was a deacon at First Baptist Church, Brownwood, and ministered through Good Samaritan and his work in the community. Weldon passed away peacefully February 15, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Lige Wilson; his mother Lottie Wilson; and his brother, Dub Wilson. Weldon is survived by his wife, Kay Wilson; his oldest son, Van Wilson; his younger son and wife, Steven and Candace Wilson; his two grandsons Garret and Ty Wilson; his sister, Wilma Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews. Weldon is most known for his selfless service and his generosity in all endeavors. He was loved by many and will be missed on this Earth.
